Open your eyes

Open your eyes
By D.G.

Open your eyes to the world around you.
You’ll see Blue,
the colour of the luscious sky
tinted with white puffy spots.
The face that reads moodiness
is often of this tone too.

Then most definitely you’ll see Red.
Passion, fiery, anger, love,
spewing out of lives all around.
It’s like that volcano I never got to meet.
Only in my imagination did I feel its heat.

Later on you’ll catch Yellow
running around like a ball of sunshine.
Bursting with energy, flashing its megawatt
yellow-petaled smile.
Oh look!
Isn’t that sunflower lovely?

And when you’re tired, Green will shelter you.
The hundred year old tree, down the street,
across the juncture, behind the school,
and 360 degrees ahead, in that spot;
It’s here you’ll kiss the tree.

Open your eyes to the world around you.
Meet Blue, feel Red, race with Yellow and embrace Green.
Then maybe they’ll introduce you to Rainbow,
to add some excitement into the
Colourless, indifferent you.
